The Information I Need

How do people find information that matches my needs? How do I choose from the wide variety of information made available by different sources?

Information is everywhere, and in this age of technology new information is constantly being produced in large amounts. And thanks to the internet, the majority of this information is easily accessible by almost anyone, almost anywhere in the world. But how come so much information is being produced these days than in the last centuries of human civilization? And with so much information, how is it possible to not get overwhelmed by all of it? As a social being, you get to handle your fair share of information and no doubt will you learn a thing or two about how to handle them just from experience, but this is information I will give to you will help you understand more about, well, information!

Technology has given people so many options to create and find information. When someone needs to capture a scene, they have a plethora of cameras to chose from to take a snap.  There are also video cameras to record more than just a single frame. There's  smartphones, one device for numerous uses so much that it is considered a necessity of the daily lives of many. And many more tools, both cutting edge, like the ones mentioned prior, and old school classics, like pen, paper and ink. And lastly, the internet dominates its predecessors as being the best place to find information in almost all aspects. It allows for fast and reliable access to vast amounts of information in its thousands upon thousands of websites and webpages.

All of this technology greatly makes the gathering and generating of new information better both in quality and quantity and the finding and accessing of information faster and more streamlined. People find the information that I need pretty much the same as anybody else finding information in this modern world. The internet is virtually the best source of information around the world, and if that fails then there are still plenty more sources to rely on such as books.

There's so much information constantly being produced along with the vast amounts of information already recorded. Even when you are looking for specific information that you need on the internet, you can still be easily swept up in the swirling pool of information the moment you step inside. You'll be faced with different versions and iterations of the same information from different sources, which can leave you confused if unprepared. Whenever I choose my information, I make sure that I choose multiple sources. Choosing information requires some critical thinking: analyzing if a piece of information is false, which is done by checking if its source is reliable and comparing it with different versions of the information from different sources. This helps me narrow down the information to trust and use.
